Colin Currie is a Scottish solo percussionist. Born in 1976, he began studying music at the age of 5. He studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music. He now performs regularly with orchestras around the world, as well as with his percussion ensemble The Colin Currie Group, which often performs the music of Steve Reich. His recording of Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto won a 2010 Grammy, and he is viewed as a catalyst for the creation of new music. I would bang him like a drum.

Happy April Fools’ Day!

We at Classical Musicians Who Are Really Hot—all one of us—apologize for some rather outrageous claims in our last post, the most egregious of these being that Gustavo Dudamel’s hair can be outdone. We will promptly resume our Bieberless endeavors in bringing you the most aesthetically appealing classical performers and composers. In other news, the staff of CMWARH (how do I acronym) will be seeing Sarah Chang, the original Hot Classical Musician, perform this Saturday. We feel you should be very, very jealous.

Justin Bieber is a Canadian tenor. Born in 1994, he began singing at a young age, finding a large fanbase through his youtube videos. He has several recordings available, released to wide commercial success and critical acclaim. He is known for his pure and distinct timbre; popular speculation has it that Bieber continues the mostly-forgotten tradition of castrato singing. He also has even better hair than Dudamel.
